The short version

Cull reviews and culls your photos entirely on your device. The app makes no network calls of its own and sends nothing to us or any third party. There is no account and no sign-up. This page also explains the one place that differs: this website, which is hosted by a third party that may keep standard server logs.

The app versus this website

These are two different things, so we describe them separately.

The Cull app does not collect, store, or transmit your photos, personal information, or usage data. It runs on your device and keeps no analytics.

This website (cull.pomelostudios.net) ships no analytics and sets no cookies. However, it is served by a third-party hosting provider (Vercel), which may process standard server logs, including IP addresses, in order to deliver and secure the site. That processing is performed by the host, not by the app, and it does not involve your photo library.

Photo library access

Cull uses Apple's PhotoKit framework and asks for read and write access to your photo library only after you grant permission. It reads photos so you can review them, and it modifies the library to delete the ones you cull. You can grant full access or limited access, and you can change or revoke this at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy and Security, Photos. Photos are reviewed and kept or culled on your device. The blurred backdrop shown behind a photo is a decorative visual effect, not analysis. Culldoes not detect blur and does not detect duplicates.

Network and iCloud

Cull makes no network calls of its own. The only network activity related to your photos is iOS itself downloading images you keep in iCloud from Apple, exactly as the system normally does when an app needs the full-resolution file. That download is handled by iOS and Apple, not by Cull and not by us.

What the app stores

Cull stores a small amount of information locally on your device using iOS preferences storage: your settings, your session progress and stats, and the identifiers of photos you have chosen to keep. No photos, personal information, or usage data leave your device. No personal data, email address, or device identifier is stored or transmitted, and there is no account.

Third-party SDKs

Cull includes no third-party software development kits for analytics, tracking, advertising, or crash reporting. It has no third-party dependencies and uses only Apple's on-device logging.

Payments

Cull is a paid app and may offer in-app purchases. Apple processes all payments through the App Store under Apple's own privacy policy. We never receive your payment details.

Deleting photos

When you cull a photo, Cull stages it to the iOS Recently Deleted album through Apple's PhotoKit. It is not erased immediately. Apple keeps deleted photos there for about 30 days, during which you can recover them in the Apple Photos app before they are permanently removed.

Your rights and the data controller

The data controller for this website is Pomelo Studios. The Cull app collects no personal data. The only personal data processed in connection with Cull is the standard server-log data (including IP addresses) handled by our hosting provider, Vercel, to deliver and secure this site. The legal basis for that processing is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website. Those logs are retained by the host for a limited period under its own policy and are not used to identify or profile you.

If you are in the EU/EEA or UK (GDPR) or in Türkiye (KVKK), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability where applicable. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in Türkiye, the Kişisel Verileri Koruma Kurumu). To exercise any of these rights, email support@pomelostudios.net.

Children

Cull is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date.
